Sports Injury

At Riverside we aim to offer our patients the latest treatments available to ensure your recovery from pain/injury and return to sport or normal day to day activity. We are purely a physiotherapy clinic and so we can focus on making sure the physiotherapy treatments you receive from us are clinically proven, up to date treatments delivered by highly trained, experienced physiotherapists.

As part of our services we are offering “Injury Prevention Screening”. This involves a full biomechanical assessment of the body’s alignment, muscle length and strength, core stability strength and balance reactions. This will provide us with a picture of how your body is functioning and will highlight any potential areas that may be prone to injury in the future or show us areas that are causing recurrence of injuries.  For example if you have a long standing knee pain when running which doesn’t go away but there is no history of injury, then this may be due to a biomechanical problem  at your feet or a muscle imbalance around the knee or hip. Our screening would highlight these problems and provide you with solutions – such as orthotics, footwear advice, stretching advice and how to make your gym routine more relevant to your individual needs so you are not training ineffectively. Long term back pain can also be a result of biomechanical problems – such as a leg length discrepancy or muscle imbalances around the spine.

The “Injury Prevention Screening” process will take about an hour and we will give you a thorough breakdown of any problems that we find. We will then put together an individual training programme to address any problems found.

Riverside is a small, personal, relaxed clinic; we are not a large, impersonal organisation with several members of staff spread over a multitude of site. We have purposefully stayed small so we can continue to deliver focused, specialist treatment to our patients – we care for our patients and appreciate that they individuals who need individual care and attention.

If you would like to know more please call us on 01282 868796 or 07813072027 for more information and to see if this service could help you. The screening will last approx 1 hour and will provide you with an understanding of your body’s unique mechanics and recommendations for effective, specific, efficient training programmes specifically designed to meet your individual needs. If required we can arrange a follow up appointment to review your progress and make sure you are getting the most from your programme.
